Skinny dipping

The white headband at the bottom is from The Body Shop.
My skincare regime is not perfect, let's just open with that statement. I have yet to find the perfect matches for my exact skin needs, but these products are doing the job for now. Some of them are really incredible, all of them are good products. I just feel like I need to explore the skincare department a bit more. I have dry skin, with the occasional oily patches around my T-zone. It's pretty sensitive so I like to use gentle products on it. I usually get some pesky blemishes when I am on my period, but not otherwise. I have some weird bumps (feels like sand) on my chin. Those are my worst enemies. I have had them for several years now and nothing has helped getting rid of them even the slightest. If anyone out there knows what I'm talking about and has a cure, do let me know. In this post we are focusing on my skincare regimes in general, not specifically night or day.
On to the products we go!

First off, cleanser. I use the Caudalíe Gentle Cleansing Milk. I use this to remove my makeup aswell as a cleanser. I first use it to remove my makeup, rinse it off with water and then go back in for a second cleanse. After that I use Bioderma Céraline H2O Solution Micellaire to remove the last bits of makeup and the residue that is left from the cleanser. A few times a week I scrub my face with the Gamarde Commage Douceur Soft Exfoliator. It's a very gentle exfoliator but it's super effective. How I like to use it is to put it on my dry face and just dry scrub with it. It picks up all of the dirt on your face and rolls up into small little bundles of disgusting impurities. They actually turn grey. How cool is that?
Now is the time for either a mask, massage or serum!

If I decide to rock the mask way, I have two choices. If I have a lot of impurities or my skin feels congested, I use Beauté Pacifique Masque Matité. This is a deep pore cleansing mask and it feels great on the skin. I do switch this up with the Lush Cupcake Fresh Face Mask which I keep in the freezer for extra cooling effect. However my skin usually feels really dry and dull so I mostly reach for my Caudalié Moisturizing Cream-Mask. I have other masks like this one but this is just the best! For application you just put it on your face and wait 15 minutes, if there's any excess product left on your skin you can just remove it with a cotton pad (I have never had any excess left on my thirsy skin). It's for all skin types and it does not feel heavy or like it's going to break you out. It does the job perfectly.

If massage is the way to go I like to use raw coconut oil. I have depotted some in an old Lush tub for beauty purposes only, the rest is kept in my fridge. The most important thing about face massageing is to have a slip to your face when you do it. You don't want to drag the skin, that will defeat the massages purpose. If you don't want to use coconut oil, use something else. For example a treatment serum or a cleansing oil. Everyone does it in different ways, if you've never done it before I recommend you checking out Lisa Eldridge's video on the subject. Facial massages are so relaxing, give it a try if you've never tried it before!

I don't always use serums. Only when I have blemishes. That is because I don't own any other serums than the Chanel Précision Pureté Idéale Sérum, which is a purifying serum. Seriously though, this is the best thing for impurities ever. I have never used anything like it. I put it on where I have some spots or on up-coming ones and by the next day they're gone. I can't believe this is so unknown in the beauty community.

After one of the three steps above (or if it's a pamper night, all of them) I like to spirtz some Caudalíe Beauty Elixir on my face and use some eye cream. I use the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye and then I move on to moisturising. For night time I use Soap & Glory Beauty Sleep Accelerator and for day time the Soap & Glory 6-in-1 Multiactive Moisture Lotion. I really like the packaging on the day time one. It feels very authentic yet minimalistic.
On my lips I slab on my Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm. It's really thick and perfect for night time.

Wishful Thinking

Wishful thinking blogpost no1

We have all been encouraged to wish for things in our lives. Some more wish-worthy than others, but nontheless a wish. Picking petals of a flower, wishing that the person you love will love you back. Wishing upon a falling star. It's optimism in its purest form. It shows the great sign of hope, something we all carry with us. Nothing says a wish will come true, however nothing says it won't. Daring to put your hopes and dreams in the hands of a wish also shows signs of strength. I like to consider myself an optimist. A strong, hopeful optimist. Despite the fact that I don't have a job nor am studying at university, I like to believe that I will purchase the things I wish for most (except world peace and getting a job etc). I have here gathered my current wishes for you all to see.

Left to right, first row
Ellis Faas Eyeliner in Black. I have been on the hunt for a good eyeliner for months now. This one has received heaps of good reviews. The packaging on this one particularly stunning, I love the minimalism and the resemblance of ammunition. The idea of using makeup as a weapon is very spot on.
Topshop Cut-Out Ring Pack in Gold. I have fairly large fingers so I have never really found rings that suited my phalanges, let alone actually fitted. However the rings at Topshop always have different sizes and the ones in Large fit me pretty good. My appeal for these rings are due to their daintyness and metal. I much prefer gold over silver, and small rings always look nice!

Left to right, second row
Lorac Pro Palette 2. I want it, give it to me, please. It is packed with amazing colours, all of which are perfect for autumn 2014's colour scheme. The top row consists of matte colours, whilst the bottom are buttery shimmers. I sure hope I get that job soon, I don't want to be without this one for much longer!
Weekday Pingvin Blouse in Black. The fact is that I don't own a single V-neck shirt. I figured I could use one or two in my closet. Weekday always include some good staple pieces in their collections alongside of more radical ones. This blouse seems safe enough to be a good foundation for my coming V-neck adventure ahead.
Byredo Parfums in Baudelaire. Byredo has scents and perfumes down to a T. T standing for top notes in this case. Only the most alluring and intriguing notes seem to make the cut into their bottles of pure luxe. Baudelaire's top notes are juniper berry, black pepper and caraway. The heart consists of incense, hyacinth and leather. The base is a wonderful mix of papyrus, patchouli and black amber. This one smells like an old, well traveled book.
Zara Blucher with Fringes. These shoes are so snazzy. I love the fringe and the little bow on the front and one can never go wrong with a black leather shoe. They would look great with anything, but in my head I have paired them with skinny jeans, a white shirt and a large coat. I live for simple outfits and these shoes will take them to the next level.

Left to right, third row
Acne Studios Faye Oversized V-neck in Grey. Like I said, I own zero V-necks. Grey is also I colour I am warming up to, so I figured why not be daring and get someting a bit 'risky'.
Apple iMac 21,5. The laptop that I currently own is getting real slow and unsafe to use. It turns off without notice, has a turquoise line across the screen and is horrible in every single way possible. I would love to have a computer which just sits on my desk, rather than my bed. I need to be able to wind down at the end of the night, but that's very hard when the laptop is so easy to have in bed with you! I prefer Mac over PC so it's a natural change for me. Also I think the iMac is really pretty...
Crème de la Mer La Mer. Is there anyone who does not want this cream? I am going to start using this when I turn 45, that is a serious promise to myself. Treating yourself seems to be easily forgotten at that stage in life and I don't want to fall into that trap. TREAT YOSELF.

Goodbye old chaps

Tuesday, September 23, 2014 Unknown 0 Comments

Yesterday I had to say goodbye to a couple of very good friends of mine. They are leaving our grey town for a more famous grey town. I know they are going to have an amazing time during their year away and Iwill miss them a great deal. I plan to visit them in November or so! However they don't know that yet. Sometimes saying goodbye is easy. Like when you didn't like the thing too much to begin with, and sometimes it's really hard. Here are some recent beauty empties I've had to say goodbye to. Some were easier to say goodbye to than others...

Body and hair
LUSH I love Juicy . First up is my favourite shampoo,  It's a clarifying shampoo and removes excess oils and product build up from your hair. It's a great product and it smells of papaya, kiwi, pineapple and mango. A fruit cocktail for your hair? How could anyone possibly say no!
Caudalíe Zeste de Vigne shower gel. Caudalíe is all about sensitive skin and this showergel is not an exception. It's soap free and has no parabens or SLS in it AND it's free from animalistic products. The scent is best describes as "luxorious citrus" and it reminds me of my latest trip to Paris. This is the perfect shower gel for when you want to use something fresh that does not remind you of toilet cleaner... I'll make sure to repurchase it on my next visit to France!
Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash. You all know this one. I don't think anyone in the beauty world has been able to miss this one. It smells like a sweet lime summer drink. I personally think this can be a bit too much on the scent department. The scent is really sweet and heavy and limey at the same time and I want to be able to choose between those scents, not have them at the same time.
Soap and Glory Pulp Friction Body Scrub. This is my favourite scrub ever! It's in a tube so you don't have to get messy with lids on the shower floor or water in your scrub tub. It's really thick but light at the same time. It's not too gritty, almost on the verge of being a body polish to be honest and the scent is divine! It goes with pretty much any showergel (scent wise) so you always find yourself reaching for it. I already have an unused tube waiting for me in my stockpile...

Skincare
Embryolisse Lait-Créme Concentré. This used to be my night cream for over five months! Those 75 ml really lasted for ages, and I used it down to the very last drop. I have dry skin, with the occasional oil patch around my nostrils and this worked perfectly on me! The night cream I am using at the moment does the job but every night I dream about Embryolisse... Must repurchase this soon or me and my skin will go mad!
Gamarde Hydratation Active Fluide Léger. Oh day cream, my day cream. This is the best day cream I have ever used, It's really light on the skin but hydrates it like a dream. It's for normal to combination skin, which works well for me during the day. It's not greasy in any way so it sits perfectly under makeup with out it sliding down my face. I miss this cream so much (I may or may not just have forced out the very last drops of it and put it on my face)(twice)!
Bioderma Sensibio H2O. This cult classic has a place in every makeup junkies heart. I used it. It ended. I took out another 500 ml bottle from my stock pile to relace it. The end.

Makeup
Estée Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara. I got this one last christmas in Estée Lauders christmas box. It did it's job but was nothing special to be honest. It was supposed to give great volume but it just sat on your lashes and didn't do much. A very lazy mascara!
L'oreal Miss Manga Mascara. Again, nothing special! You had to open it and then leave it for a few weeks before you could use it properly. It did a much better job then but the flexible wand really put me off.
Dior Diorshow Extase Mascara. An absolutley horrible mascara. The fomula was wet and gloopy at the same time, the brush made all my lashes clump up to one big glob and it was really difficult to apply. I did not like this product one bit. It's actually still half full.

Sorry for being such a Debbie downer at the end, but no one likes a bad mascara. Especially not three in a row...

I hope you enjoyed!

Autumn is Toasted

Sunday, September 21, 2014 Unknown 0 Comments

The time for harvest, hot cups of tea and toasting under a blanket during stormy nights is finally here! Autumn came to town today and so far it has brought us a show of thunder, crispy leaves and gave the sun a day off. I took this oppertunity to take out some of my long awaited autumn/winter candles and lit them, and put on my cozy slippers from shepherd. These are all staples most people are familiar with in their autumn routine. When it comes to makeup on the other hand, we all like to do it in different ways! Some like to go for the really bold berry lip the second the calendar changes to september, others like to wait until christmas day. I on the other hand enjoy keeping my autumn makeup more true to the autumn way of life. I like to harvest my beloved summer makeup look and use it for a few extra weeks. I see myself as a marshmallow, I am pale and I will be good just as I am. If I want to get to the next level however, I should be just a little bit toasted. So don't put down that bronzer just yet, honey!

Face
After I have applied moisturiser and all that, I put on some concealer. Today I went for a light coverage on just the red parts of my face using my Maybelline Instant anti-age Eraser eye concealer. Then I took Lóreal Lumi Magique concealer under my eyes and on the high points of my cheeks, to give them some light. After that I dusted on some translucent Chanel Natural Finish Pressed Powder on my face to set the concealer. To toast it up I used my Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. Mine is in a special Too Faced - Sephora Palette which was released in combination of their 15 year collaboration anniversary.

Eyes
To give my brows some game I used the Sephora Eyebrow Editor, which is surprisingly good! Then I gave my eyelids a light wash of colour using my Marc Jacobs Lotita Palette. I used the white, matte shade all over my lids, then I put the light, matte brown colour in my crease and topped it off using the pink, shimmery shade on the center of my lids. For mascara I used the Soap & Glory Thick and Fast Mascara on my upper lashes! I really like this mascara. It gives a great lift to the lashes and is never found on my cheeks by the end of the day.

Lips
I am not very big on lipstick. I have a pretty small upper lip so whenever I wear lipstick it usually looks even smaller. So I prefer lip pencils, glosses and balms instead! Today I spiced my lips using the Sephora Nano Lips in 15 Royal Rose. I used it very carefully, just dabbed it a bit on my lips and then rubbed it with some lip balm. Just to tint my lips a bit.

That concludes my toasted autumn makeup look!
I hope you enjoyed.

Selfridges Advent Calendar 2014

Friday, September 19, 2014 Unknown 0 Comments

Are you seeing this? Can you see this beauty? I am swooning over this advent calendar. You probably don't know this about me, but I am a massive fan of the holiday season. I have already started to add more christmas songs to my christmas playlist on spotify! Maybe I even listened to some...

This is what Selfridges has to say about their advent calendar,
"Filled with 24 luxurious miniature treats to guarantee a beauty-filled festive season, it's a must-have for all beauty fans.  The 2014 calendar contains a selection of fragrances, makeup and skincare from some of the world's best beauty brands including Lancôme, Yves Saint Laurent, Kiehl's, Victor & Rolf and more. With last year's calendar a sell-out sensation, the 2014 edition won't be around for long."

I am one of those weird people who does not like chocolate, so for me, this sort of calendar is perfect! Not only would I get a small gift everyday to make me feel good instead of chocolate which makes me feel sick, but I would get to try so many beauty products so when 2015 comes around, I will know exactly what I need to switch up my beauty cabinet! I can't wait to get my hands on this advent calendar made by baby Jesus himself. If I don't get it my christmas will pretty much be ruined (please ship this one to Sweden, Selfridges)!

They sell out really fast, so when you're ready go and get it (for now you can only sign up to be notified when it's in stock).

A-list Drugstore concealers

Thursday, September 18, 2014 Unknown 0 Comments

Left to right; Maybelline Fit Me in 15, Maybelline Eraser Eye in Light, Lóreal Lumi Magique in 1, Collection Lasting Perfection in 2.

So the horizon of drugstore concealers has been expanding beyond our belief these last few years. At the same time, more high end brands have become more accessible to the everyday makeup wearer. There are many highs and lows in the among the drugstore concealers and in this blog post we are pushing away the lows and bringing out the big guns, the highs. These four concealers have been raved about a great deal, most of us like them, But sometimes we must remind ourselves, WWKKD, what-would-Kim-K-do? She would only settle for the best of the best. So let's get started!

Maybelline Fit Me concealer
This has been claimed to be the drugstore dupe of the Nars creamy concealer. This concealer is very creamy indeed, has a reliable lasting effect and does not feel too heavy on the skin. This range of concealers has the largest range of different shades, compared to the others. It is very diverse and can be used as an under eye concealer as well as an invisibility cloak for those pesky pimples. Fit me is very everyday - almost a bit too much. Sometimes you want that extra oomph and this is not it. One thing I dislike about the product is the fact that the text on the packaging rubs off and sticks to your hands when you hold it. I consider this concealer to be a pimple-concealer. I would rate this a  5/10*.

Maybelline Eraser Eye under eye concealer
This baby blends with your skin like a dream. Do not be fooled by the light texture of the product, the coverage is hard to beat. It is an under eye concealer, but like anything makeup and its purpose it is more of a "if the shoe fits" sort of concept. Meaning that you can use it on the rest of your face, too. I always want something more cakey on my pimples so I would not do that personally. I have a quite agressive way of dealing with those demons. Back to the concealer now. The applicator is not your everyday dome foot. It is a sponge in which you twist up the product into and then apply to your face. Because the formula is so light and water-like, a dome-foot would not have worked, I think. Since it is so light it sits on the skin like a part of it, rather than a second layer. Love it! Rated 8/10

Lóreal Lumi Magique concealer
Two words; Touche Éclat. Although this one was not created by the Terry bomb, it is still tha bomb. The formula is light yet creamy, blendable yet visible and amazing yet fantistic. It gives you that Kardashian glow without the million layers of sculpting agents. It lasts for a thousand years on the skin and is so easy to apply. No tugging under the eyes needed here! Keep in mind that this is just for highlighting and your under eye area. If you put this on a blemish it will shine bright like a diamond, so let's just not. Not that many different shades of colour but since it is a highlight they soft of get away with it. Overall rating 8/10

Collection Lasting Perfection concealer
Wow this concealer looks really weird swatched. On my face it is not that dark at all. Or is it? I need more makeup-aware friends who will tell me when my makeup has gone wrong... However this concealer is not as bad as I just made it seem. It actually has great lasting power, not the claimed 16 hours but atleast 7-8! They don't have any dark shades, though. This concealer comes in four shades and they are all very, very light. The lightest one is known for being "the only concealer" amongst us pale people. During the summer I manage to bump up my complection to the second lightest shade! The formula is very thick and creamy and works wonders on covering up blemishes, but is too think for your under eyes. It can crease a bit if you put it there. The text on the tube rubs off really quick on this one, too and that is really awful, to be honest. If you are pale and need to cover up your face then this is the one for you! It is really good. 7/10

I hope you enjoyed this concealer showdown!

*Keep in mind that this scale is not one that rates 1 as poo and 10 as angel goo, Right now, 1 is okay and 10 is Kim Kardashian/Beyoncé.
